I don't think there is any patterns. The only guaranteed pattern is the one year adavanced award redemption on the first round of releasing seats. After that, it all depends on the demands/booking of the revenue seats. You will just have to be flexible with your travel plan and be ready to pickup and go at the last minute when you find award availability.
