Did they perhaps see you come into the hotel with or receive a guest/visitor of the perceived opposite sex or different perceived ethnicity to you? Their actions are similar to what hotel security types in the region sometimes do in the evening hours when they are supposedly concerned about prostitution, human trafficking or drug use on premises. Maybe they went to the wrong door; or maybe there was some kind of other confusion over the room since it was noted as if it should be unoccupied or have been checked out of already by the guest but the guest hadn’t checked out.
How long was the time between the first ring on the room phone and the knock on the door this evening?
Nobody else has been in my room. The calling was just prior. I have stayed in hotels literally thousands of times and placed the sign on the door every single time. I have never had someone insist I give a rationale for why nor have I ever given a hotel a heads up.
