We'd put out the Do Not Disturb sign overnight after our arrival and the left in out while we we out and about the next day.
I don't recall how long we had the sign out, but at least 24-36 hours.
Somebody for the hotel came to check that everything was OK. They were polite, we assured them everything was fine, and they left.
I would have been okay with that because initially he said he was just trying to check on me to which I replied "I'm fine, I don't need anything and that's why the sign is there" but then he started to raise his voice and become rather aggressive. It probably didn't help that I insisted he leave and stop bothering me. I also don't appreciate the fact it's 10:30 PM. While I'm not asleep, I am perhaps old-fashioned and don't think you should bother people at that time of day.
