I sometimes intentionally check my carry on bag when returning to MCO because it’s basically guaranteed to be late at the carousel with how slow they are to deliver baggage. A free extra 2,500 miles.
It's not really free if you have to wait for it.
The whole point of a carry on is that you're free to go when you land, and aren't held captive with the other baggage claim people.
