I booked GOT-AMS-MAN CDG-AMS-GOT in Y and I think at booking I could choose seats on all segments. Post booking the seatmap on GOT-AMS and AMS-GOT was unavailable (and stil is for GOT-AMS). 3 or 4 days before the trip I tried a dummy booking for the GOT-AMS leg and saw the curtain had moved, called the Platinum line to get seated forward and they could do it no problem. I was never able to open the seatmap on the GOT-AMS flight even during checkin. Oddly having flow that leg, when looking at the trip, it offered to let me choose a seat for GOT-AMS, yet looking at AMS-MAN there was no choice to choose a seat. Clicking on the former of course brought up the AMS-MAN seatmap. Another example of AFKL IT at its best.
Slightly amusingly on AMS-MAN there was the entire row 5 empty in EC. behind me in row 4 was a larger lady in D, and a couple in E and F. The FA politely offered the lady a seat in the empty row behind so she could have some more room but for some reason she was quite happy where she was and declined (to the displeasure of the couple in E&F). They then came up with an excuse they made need the toilet during the flight and might be better for them to move back which they did. I guess it was a short flight but why would you prefer a seat mate when you could have an entire row?
