I have a Premium Economy Flex that I want to change to Business Classic with different dates. Why? Because Business Flex is more expensive than Business Classic and I don't need/want the features that Flex offers. I don't see how this circumvents anything or why would there be a rule against doing this.

I cannot really understand why one would need to update a ticket from Classic to Flex, either, as both tickets allow changes but it is self-evident that a Classic to Flex ticket cannot be refunded – if it could, it would in practice make all tickets fully refundable, which does not make sense.
I did this because it allowed me to select seats without a fee, and the fees for seat selection were higher than the price difference. I was also curious whether this would make the ticket refundable, which I agree would not make sense. One agent actually assured me that this ticket was fully refundable, but then I double checked by creating a case with Finnair, and they contradicted this agent - only the portion I paid for the change would be refundable.
