Upon reviewing my booking, I noticed the option to change my ticket to a refundable one, albeit with a fee.
Considering this situation, I am eager to learn about the best course of action to make the most of my companion pass and reduce the overall cost of our trip. I am particularly interested in understanding the available options and any potential limitations or conditions that may apply.
My current plan involves the following steps:
1. Changing my existing ticket to a refundable one.
2. Requesting a refund for the original non-refundable ticket, which has become refundable with the change.
3. Booking a new flight using the companion pass.
I would greatly appreciate your advice on whether this plan is the right step to take. Specifically, I am curious to know if I would receive the full amount I originally paid if I request a refund for the ticket.
Thank you in advance for your insights and guidance. Any information you can provide would be immensely helpful and greatly appreciated.
If you review your ticket and the associated fare rules, normally the original non-refundable amount paid will remain non-refundable, even if you upfare it.
You may be able to use the option to cancel your flight to an Air Canada travel voucher and then use that to purchase the new ticket, however the vouchers are not issued instantly.
