Spent a couple nights at Aloft Strasbourg recently, same room (717) as enelym1978 above. Wanted to write a quick review to compare the Aloft to Maison Rouge, where we had a great stay a couple years ago.

The Aloft room is modern-functional, the view very pleasant, but there are serious concerns with privacy. There are only electric blackout blinds, which work great at night. But during the day, you have to lower them all the way if you want any privacy in your room -- the windows aren't tinted in any way, so anyone can look in and watch you in your bed or bathroom. Note that we were on the 7th (of 8) floors, so this problem is likely worse on lower floors, and indeed some rooms in the back of the building appear to face nearby office buildings. Here's a picture of our bathroom taken from a couple hundred ft away:

Unless you lower the blinds during the day, anyone can watch you shaving, getting out of the shower, or whatever else you do in your room. The hotel desperately needs to add some curtains you can use for privacy during daytime.

We liked the location, which is a couple stops further on trams A or D from the Central Station (closest stop: Etoile Bourse). It's an easy walk into town, and the immeciate neighborhood has a mall with giant grocery store. If you visit by car, the Aloft is far easier to reach than Maison Rouge.

Breakfast was mediocre in selection and quality -- obviously Maison Rouge has a huge edge here, but it was weak even compared to other European Alofts.

All told, for €90 (vs €250 at Maison Rouge), the Aloft is not a poor choice, and I can imagine staying here again.
