That was the conclusion that I was fast arriving at

European train travel is very cheap and reliable, so was considering a trip somewhere.
Hence I have not as yet booked a return flight.

I have been to Mainz in December for Christmas markets along with Heidelberg and Nuremberg.

I will look at the other suggestions above
Got a few months yet to organise
