F upgrade revoked
New situation that I’d welcome advice on: first on the upgrade list for IAD -GCM today using an MP award. Got a text with about 10 minutes to push that I’d been battlefield upgraded…boarding pass updates. FA told me to gather my things and get ready to move. They did not return to get me…spouse saw that a companion was up front telling the FA to wait for her friend who was in first and running late. T-5 minutes to push and he shows up and takes the last F seat.
My Boarding pass shows PZ and the upgrade list has me confirmed after we leave the gate but in 21A. FA never returns and I’m in coach 3 hours.
Did United misstep here? Feels like it. If so, what’s the appropriate recourse if any?
