Just remember that your spouse will not be eligible for any elite benefits that you may be entitled to as the Bonvoy member. It's possible that the hotel will extend any benefits you would be due out of goodwill because you're the main name on the reservation and you used your points but equally possible your spouse will just get the room because you're not there.
For example, my sister (same surname as me so they'd have thought she was my spouse) checked in to a pre-paid reservation I had at the Sheraton Heathrow in February after I'd told them on the chat that she would be arriving three hours before my flight landed. She got the room but they steadfastly refused to issue the breakfast vouchers until I physically turned up. This surprised me but they were well within their rights.
