Novotel Edinburgh Centre
Introduction I had a two night stay at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre. I did not try any food or use any of the facilities, so i will be reviewing only the room and the service. Check In The uber ride from the airport took aproximatley 25 min. I had checked in online before my arrival. I was warmly welcomed by a lovely receptionist. She thanked me for my loyalty and explained the hotel facilities. She asked if i was planning on using the hotels pool, as a health document would need to be filled out and a separate pool key needed to be picked up at reception. Unfortunatley i had not brought my swimming trunks. I received a two category room upgrade from a Standard room with queen size bed and sofa to an Executive room with queen size bed & convertible sofa. Drink voucher was also handed out. Truly a very professional receptionist, with a big smile. Left a very good first impression. Room Good sized room with a work desk, sofa and good amenities. Safe, iron and ironingboard, hairdryer and slippers. No bathrobe.Coffee machine and kettle. Both coffee capsules and instant coffee.Water and milk in the minibar.Welcome amenity. A hand written letter, chocolates, and a packaged of 10 scottish tea bags. The chocolates were delicious.View from the room facing the courtyard. Overall the room was nice and clean, and felt spacious. The bed was comfortable and the lighting was good. I only found it hard to control the temperature, the room was too warm for me and the AC didn´t seem to do much at its lowest setting. Bathroom The bathroom was open concept. Not really my style, but i ended up not minding it. I could see it being less desirable if i wasn´t alone. There was a slight sewage smell when opening the shower door, but it would disappear as soon as the water strarted running. The bathroom amenities included full sized bottles of products from PRIJA and a vanity kit.Hands and body moisturiser.Vitalising cleansing hand wash.Vitalising shower gel and shampoo.Protective conditioner. Location The location is good. It is about a 12 minute walk from the Royal Mile and a 20-30 minute drive from the airport. I was considering staying at the Ibis right next to the Royal Mile, the price was the same, and i ended up choosing the Novotel. I did not mind the extra walk for the extra comfort. Overall Overall i had a very pleasant stay. The staff and the service was very good. Great loyalty recognition. Good classic novotel room style. And a good location.I can not speak for the dining experience and the hotel facilities, for that see Goldoraks review.
