a twisted baggage problem

Today I flew on an AA coded ticket SEA-SJC-DFW-PHL, with SEA-SJC on AS metal. My bag didn't make it to PHL. (side note - I bumped in SJC to SJC-ORD-PHL, but I think that didn't impact anything as it arrived later)

There have been several more inbound flights to PHL, but no sign of my bag.

It gets messy because tomorrow I am leaving on US to fly to STT. AA mentioned they will send my bag to US so US can send it to STT - this is a bit messy because I'll need hotel delivery in STT and I don't think US will be delivering a bag that AA/AS lost.

So question - should I ask AA to just fly it to STT themselves and deliver it to me?

Finally, when am I due compensation? I can make do for a day or 2 in STT with cheap souvenier wear, but I don't really want to buy a wardrobe there.

Let me know any tips on how to handle this - I'm wondering where the bag ended up!
