I am Aspire Diamond and Chase “Select Visa” Platinum. Both cards effectively pay for themselves. I would have low elite status in both programs without the cards. And I see no reason why I would give up my effective free agent status by directing spend at any one program if another brand’s property is the better choice. For domestic road trip type stays, sometimes a HIX is the better choice, sometimes a HGI or HI. Sometimes they are next to each other and I choose based on price or award availability or earnings (promo?). For international travel I prefer Hilton properties due to much better elite benefits.
