Obviously there are multiple factors that would go into this (amount of competition, number of seat upgrades requested etc...)

But I think we're all telling you the same thing: If an international flight only has five business seats left, more than a month before the flight -
and you have no status with AC - it's almost certain that the only way you're going to be able to get those seats is by paying for a business class fare. You should be considering upgrades of any type as an extremely unlikely longshot at this point.
