Recently bought a bunch of the old style Kroger USB VGCs when I thought the USB cards were being replaced by Kroger with another brand. A few were compromised and I had to fax in the required proof of purchase, driver's license etc. Eventually got my replacement cards. I've had a couple of cards that I tried to change the PIN on by calling the automated system and got routed to the call center service folks. After giving them the 16 digit card number and the last 8 digits of the bar code, I was informed that the card was active and not compromised. When I explain that I'm not able to change the PIN because I keep getting routed to customer service before I get to the prompt to change the PIN, the customer service rep inevitably offers to route me back to the automated menu or suggests I register the card online. When I tell them neither of those choices work for this particular card, they just keep repeating that those are my choices. The reps appear incapable of understanding that neither the automated phone menu nor the website allow me to register the card or change the PIN. It's an endless do loop. I don't know how these people can keep their jobs. Anyone else have this problem?

I had this happen once before (where I couldn't set a new PIN but customer service told me the card was not compromised and was active) and I just went ahead and tried the PIN that was originally assigned to the card (and it worked). So I will try that again. I'm also curious if anyone has tried the new online system for seeking a replacement card (which apparently replaces the fax in proof of purchase system they had been using). I submitted a couple of requests yesterday and I'm waiting with bated breath to see if my replacement cards come.
