Seems nobody here has had an issue doing this. Who knew?
Fortunately after re-inputting my details many, many times, I managed to get it to work. Not sure what eventually "clicked" into place (perhaps non-matching phone numbers) but all good & the points credited instantly.
Finally I can get rid of my Emirates miles & account. Thank the lord
