So rather than spend the serious $ needed to originate OWEs in the US (and assuming the IST or WAW prices aren't long for the world anyway) I started looking around for better deals ex-USA, and came across the Great Escapade product sponsored by SQ/VS/NZ, with ex-US prices

So we're shortly to book LAX-NRT-AKL-SYD-SIN-CPT-JNB-LHR-SFO and say time out to OW for the summer. I dread the prospect of being drummed out of the Legion for this defection, but it's hard to argue with the numbers, not to mention SQ J and VS U/C for most of 30K mi BIS.
Is this wrong?
No, it is not wrong. Just not Oneworld! But those are very good prices. How did you get the routing under the max of 33,500 miles? The great cirlce calculations are 33,900 miles. And what if you need a USA domestic segment to get to a gateway for the SQ/NZ/VS flights?
