I'm wondering if that was ultimately the right choice and whether the pilots in the original incident were disciplined in any way for continuing the flight. Again the AvHerald incident reads:
An Air Canada Airbus A319-100, registration C-FZUG performing flight AC295 from Winnipeg,MB to Vancouver,BC (Canada), was climbing out of Winnipeg, when the rudder trim system, autopilot and FMGC 1 and 2 failed. None of the system could be reset. Nonetheless the crew decided to carry on to Vancouver. During the descent into Vancouver the crew received an ECAM message of a right hand engine bleed air fault. The landing was safe. Maintenance needed to replace the rudder trim actuator and a pressure relief valve.
