Look, I much prefer AF to DL as well. But the reality is that DL meals in PE are leagues better than what AF is offering (at least to and from North America). My last flight with DL was in Premium Select and the food was, indeed, the same meal served in D1 with a less flowery description. Was it the best meal I’ve ever had on a plane? No. Was it better than the rubbery economy chicken or soggy pasta that AF serves both in economy and premium? Absolutely!

I used to love that AF provided a decent meal in economy. But long gone are the days of flavourful meals with decent meat and real fruit. Now, they seem to invariably serve beige, chewy chicken or soggy pasta with a minuscule amount of mediocre marinara sauce.

To be clear, when flying in J I would take AF over DL any day of the week. But in PE and Y, AF is a disaster.
