The agent also mentioned the possibility of a 4 hour layover with AF. I had an awful experience in J on AF JNB-CDG. DL was so much better in every way so I balk at the thought of AF TATL.
If they can get you on two different flights in 6hr time frame, then they can get you on one if you miss your connection 😏

Spending 5 hrs in any lounge is no picnic, I would go for the tight connection. I just went through CDG Sky Priority security line a few weeks ago and it took me less than 5 minutes (summertime may be a bit busier, of course).
