1. If you fly OW Business class you have access to AM.
2. If you fly OW first class you have you have access to AS.
3. If you are QR Platinum and fly on a QR flight number, including codeshare you have access to AS.
4. If you buy a QR P class Business lite product you do not have lounge access.
There are some caveats but I think the 4 points above cover most scenarios.
Errr that is still much more than other airlines, and it gets even more confusing:
QR plats having access to al Safwa goes against what QR describes as the benefits of platinum on their own website (
https://www.qatarairways.com/en-be/P..._benefits.html) which states that "Premium class" travel is required, I guess this is because having Platinum members officially be allowed to visit al Safwa on J tickets would mean all OWEs should be allowed too
Upgraded tickets do not offer lounge access, except sometimes access to al Mourjan/al Safwa might be granted to an upgraded ticket depending on the tier of the traveler (this changes over time)
Access to AM/AS based on arriving ticket class are arcane and depend on random things like the length of the flight
Premium lounges at outstations have varying rules
Not to mention the fact that the rules are constantly changing, especially the ones which are not actual formal rules (because they violate oneWorld rules), i.e. at some point plats flying in Y were sent to al Mourjan "because of capacity issues" at the old Platinum/OWE lounge
