Will the United Club scanner know we're not entitled to lounge access under the no-lounge-access AC eupgrade rule? Or will they apply the "access permitted to star alliance pax departing in business class" rule? (Not that I'm keen to visit a United Club, but the delays these days may make it valuable).
United Club access requirements are clear... and you should be admitted. This is what it states for "Business Class on a Star Alliance Airline":
"A boarding pass for travel in business class on a Star Alliance member airline
Customers may only access a United Club location at the departure airport for their international business class flight.footnote2"
So it only matter to UA where you're sitting on the AC flight, not how you managed to get the seat.
