have you seen train stations in Europe? The bigger ones are basically inside of a shopping mall. Some even have grocery stores.
When it's a Sunday or bank holiday in Germany, the shops are shut. One New Year's Day, we needed a chemist and the only one open was in Hauptbahnhof. The queues for the Kaiser store were around the block.
