I've heard about and seen pictures from the Star Alliance terminal at LAX that looked good but I haven't been there. Is that the best the US airport [terminal}? I was through ORD T3 a couple of times recently and I'm not impressed. Yes, everything works but it just feels old and is lacking something. It's just big. The bathrooms feel old too. I have the same experience with other airports such as MIA.
for US airports, if you can connect between terminals without exiting to landside, that's already a blessing. asking for any other thing is too demanding or impractical.

there are some nice airports in US but they are not true international. foreigners will rarely fly through them.

examples:

LGB is a nice airport - near to Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, wealthy enclaves

PSP is not bad too. snowbirds and golfers destination.
