Part of it is definitely expectations. When you charge a minimum of 3,000+ USD a night for your base room then there is an expectation that things will be perfect. It has to be very difficult to be perfect as I am sure properly trained staff are hard to come by, but they continue to charge a premium and presumably people keep paying it so there likely isn't much incentive to strive for perfection there.
I have never stayed here for that very reason, I just simply cannot justify the prices they are asking. Unfortunately Amanera has done the same to me, I loved that place but they have priced me out too.
