Calling/messaging Delta will work; although I did notice that for an upcoming AF/KL booking I have that was made through DL, if I put the DL PNR into pnr.sh (thread:
Delta unofficial PNR viewer) that there are a number of ACKN fields which, based on Googling, seem to be an acknowledgement of changes to the ticket from the operating airline or something like that? (maybe a reservations expert can give a real explanation)
but in any case the ACKN fields all have the format 1AxxxxxxDDMMMHHSSZ where xxxxxx is the AF/KL PNR. Dunno if the format is the same across all airlines but you could give it a try...
