If KL, then KLM bag allowance and fees apply for all flights, including return. US law requires the same policy, allowance (excluding elite/credit card waivers/), and fees apply throughout out (OLCI discounts are just considered a discount during checkin just like elite waiver)
Sorry for thread necromancy but this seemed the most relevant thing I could find.
This is very interesting and possibly explains something that happened recently which confused me. I booked a 'light' return LHR-LAX with KLM and added baggage only for the outbound trip (on KLM metal via AMS) by mistake, and none for the return which is operated straight to London by Delta. KLM website claims I have zero baggage allowance for the way back, however the Delta website and Delta CS claim I do have a baggage allowance. Would this be a consequence of this law or would the cause be different?
