The corona wave, which has been abatingfor around a week, continues to show falling values at the beginning of the week: 6,297 new infections were registered in the past 24 hours [to Monday 17 October], compared to 8,299 a week ago. Since Sunday, the seven-day incidence has also been back in the three-digit range and was 953.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on Monday
Vienna (city only, not VIE airport!) continued to have significantly stricter Covid measures than the rest of Austria. Michael Ludwig (the mayor) is convinced that the rest of Austria needs to follow suit, but to say that there is no appetite for stricter measures across the rest of the country would be putting it mildly.
