I doubt that each mile purchased by me this way will lead Lifemiles to devalue, as they have been devaluing for reasons that have little or nothing to do with these mileage purchases.
Buying Lifemiles — whether or not by means that may pump up OMAAT — remains a real case of “buyer beware”. And it’s been this way for some time and then some with AV/Lifemiles. Not emphasizing enough the the risk of buying these miles is what can do people a disservice. But — as demonstrated in many corners of the travel and miles and point space — highlighting such risks is not necessarily appreciated; and this is so whether or not there is any direct financial interest being challenged by emphasizing the risks.
I have to watch out for my own interests/preferences. If my doing so pads OMAAT’s bank account a very little bit, it won’t be skin off my back. What will cost me is is if I don’t take advantage of whatever discount there is to buy the very miles/points which I would likely be considering buying anyway.
