I used the service for my second time this past Friday, and have to agree with the group consensus that it's most valuable for connections.

I had a tight connection through DTW on Friday (approx 30 minutes) so booked the service a few days prior. My inbound was landing at C24 (far corner of C concourse) and outbound was one of the high-numbered gates on A concourse. It was going to be a hike.

As luck would have it, my inbound ended up arriving 20 minutes early. Oops, maybe I didn't need the service after all...Nonetheless, as expected, the rep was waiting for me on the jet bridge as a deplaned, and I was brought right down to the tarmac into a waiting Porsche. He took me for a quick tour around the tarmac, including a really cool view (from a distance) of the crews training at the de-icing pad. We made a quick stop at a SkyClub to use the restroom and pick up a snack. We also passed by an A330 that had just parked at a gate, and he asked if I wanted to get out for a photo in front of the engine. Duh! We finally made it to the gate with about 10 minutes to spare before pushback. As a semi-amateur aviation geek, it was super cool to get a little behind the scenes tour!

I haven't yet tried arrival service, but am tempted to give that a test also!
I think I’ve had him before. He’s worked at DTW forever and seems to have unfettered access to all the airport. He took me for a wonderful behind the scenes tour.
