Each flight is different and I'm out of ORD as opposed to EWR, but just for anecdotes, this year I've purchased 3 r/t international fares (MUC x2, Sao Paulo) in PE and haven't flown in PE yet - all flights were upgraded. Similar story in previous years - I've yet to fly in PE cabin. Hang tight and hopefully you'll clear.
