this. Plus just general policy. Not 100% sure about LH, but UA has no change fee ex-US, and sometimes at least internationally via the ‘no charge for changes’ in the fare rules. I don’t know about all international carriers, but I think that’s mostly a US airline thing unless you are booking fully flexible fare. So that’s a good reason to potentially book a codeshare via UA vs. directly with operating carrier.
