You joke, but given my experience with United and AA on small planes like this, even flying in F, it's not always guaranteed that the bin space above you will be open (seemingly, on some of these routes, half the plane is ConciergeKey or 1K or Global Services, even if not in F...).
You are not limited to only using the bin space above your seat. If that's full, put the bag where there is room.
