Because they've gone and screwed the ranks of MP elites so there's much fewer earning and buying in the middle (Silver/Gold/Platinum).

Take a look at multiple UA aircraft flying at this minute. E+ is less than half filled. That's lost revenue either purchasing E+ and/or folks flying enough to earn into the mid ranks. Whole bunches of those who buy BE have learned that if the flight is full enough, they'll get E+ without paying.

Oh, and getting back to the primary topic of this thread, with what they've done to eviscerate GS services and amenities, many of y'all have gone and learned the dAArk arts, tried DLectable delights and simply WNed up elsewhere.
