2. How much will you use the club and do you value the offerings there? If use is less than 5x/year, that's the Delta between the fees on the two cards. I use the $39 day pass if I have an extended layover or IRROPS.
3. How aggressive will you be about using the benefits like the Pre/global traveler credit?

I'm happy with the Platinum. I've flown 20x this year to date on my own dime (self-employed) and don't really see the benefit in the club. Food is meh, I don't drink much in transit and it's just as crowded as the terminal (though you can find oases in a terminal). You get many of the same benefits as reserve with MQM bumps and the statement credits. I don't know if I've been outfoxed on any upgrades due to credit card level but I'm a silver that's 5/6 on upgrades since July and might eke my way in to gold by EOY, but frankly for my flights that rarely exceed four hours the benefit of preferred seating and often a zero-cost comfort plus seat suits me fine.

Your priorities may work out differently (same for most), but for me the extra $300 wasn't worth it. Good luck with it...
