I recently, for the first time, did this. The GM helped with a reservation (allowed me to book one night in a 3-nt minimum time) which I thought was very kind. I'm from Oregon, so I got a gift box of assorted Oregon hazelnuts (chocolate covered, caramel, etc.) with a note thanking him and saying it was for the staff (not a personal gift). In terms of being "Covid times" as long as the package is factory wrapped I don't see a problem. And I deliberately chose something from my local area, not something anyone can get anywhere.
