Though in the above is it a downgrade? Is it just a upgrade not clearing? That is the risk when put in an upgrade that might not get the upgrade.

In my experience when an actual downgrade happens get the fare difference or change flight. That was during the 787 issues. Even got a Operational upgrade to Business because of no PE as Boeing's 777 they dry leased didn't have PE.
