Pretty much all true! I tried too hard to make something work, at a time when air travel is just barely holding itself together. It was a very long travel day, but overall we had a great trip. No drama on the return.
Thanks for the recap! I'm glad, at least, you didn't run into more drama on the way home. Realizing now that you were trying to make it to a specific stage of the Tour the following day, it's easier to see in retrospect why you were working so hard to try to find an alternative. I'm also glad you were able to catch up with your luggage -- especially if that's where you had the bikes.
Hopefully by this time next year, things will have calmed down a bit.
