Another factor that might be useful to compare on such a long flight is wifi. If you plan to browse, do work, or stay connected, then I would pick UA since SQ wifi plans suck. Despite the patchy wifi on UA, at least it's for the entire duration of the flight and not capped.
Interesting observation. I am usually working, but most of the time I am taking advantage of the fact that, if I don't buy wifi, I don't get distracted by browsing :-)
