I think SQ J is overrated. Assuming UA is a 1-2-1 ... that is not a terrible choice either IMO.

Another vote for NH and connecting in TYO -- I used to regularly do the EWR-HKG flight which is about what this flight is in time I think -- and the chance to have a break and get off the plane and walk a bit -- and then get back on for a 5-6 hour flight was much preferred to the "never ending flight"... Plus NH J is amazing -- food and hard product -- especially since you will probably get their newest product -- "The Room".... Only downside? NH can keep their planes a bit warm for westerners....
