You mean as opposed to earning Chase / Amex points that can be converted to miles? Or cycling through cards for the signup bonuses?

It is actually possible to get a US Amex card without a SSN if you have credit history in one of a few select other countries. It seems the Netherlands is not on that list, but if by any chance you spent time in any of the ones that are maybe it might work:
