In both cases, a combination of my *G status on the digital boarding pass, expired physical membership card, active digital membership card, luggage tags, and my persistence got me in. But the delay, uncertainty, negotiation, and need to 'prove' my eligibility was not welcome during long travel days where I really just wanted some peace and quiet ASAP.
Both instances occurred at LH lounges where they have this setup with actual LH employees behind the lounge doors + contracted non-LH employees stationed outside, and it was the contracted non-LH employees who seem to like giving me trouble...
