Aegean Lounge: ATH

Since we arrived an hour late, our time in the Aegean lounge was cut short but we were determined to make the most of it. By the time we disembarked from a remote stand and made our way to the terminal, we had roughly one hour before boarding so we made a beeline to the lounge. We wound our way through the maze of ATH before finding the entrance to the lounge. It’s worth noting that this is not the new Aegean Lounge that recently opened, as that is in another terminal.

Upon entering the lounge, we were greeted by two agents at the desk who checked our boarding passes and welcomed us in. The lounge was fairly full, but we managed to find a couple of seats together in the rear of the lounge. After settling into our seats, I went off to explore the lounge while Mrs. WS93 checked in with her parents who were watching Gumbo for us.

The lounge was divided up into two distinct areas, the larger seating area with traditional lounge chairs and a smaller area behind a wall with some café style tables. There was a buffet along the wall that had fruit, juice, pastries, sandwiches and wine and beer available. Across from the buffet was an airplane bar cart where a self-service spirits bar was set up. While most people, especially on FT, may like having a full-service bar, the avgeek in me enjoyed the beverage cart bar set up.

Since it was late and we had eaten on our AMS-ATH flight, we just relaxed in the lounge and passed on the food and drinks. With our flight to Santorini not scheduled to depart until 11:10p, we were one of the last people in the lounge when we finally left around 10:30p to make our way down to our gate.

While we enjoyed having a lounge to relax in between flights, the lounge was a typical airline lounge and an hour here was more than enough time. Having read about the new lounge in Aegean’s inflight magazine, it would be interesting to compare the two/see the differences in the new flagship lounge.
