A few things:
- On my last 3-4 flights, boarding has been delayed but the GAs wait until everyone is at the gate before officially delaying in the system, causing unnecessary crowding. I could hang at the UC longer if they promptly addressed such delays.
- I don’t think the new hires understand the pre-boarding process. It has not gone smoothly at all. Group 1 decided to board with 1K’s yesterday and it was a disaster. And yes, I saw their BP’s to confirm they weren’t 1K. GA’s didn’t care and this was consistent with previous recent experiences.
- IAD yesterday afternoon was more crowded than any airport I have ever seen. UA flights to pretty much every major European city departed from the same part of terminal C between 5-6pm. It was like walking through a mosh pit. Is there any way to improve this?
- Despite a 2.5 hour delay (maintenance + unruly passenger removal), I did have great service on the flight. A bit peeved that for the hours from pushback, we were offered nothing. We did have PDB’s but some refreshments during the delay in F would have been nice. Guess we just have to accept this as the new normal.
