One-way is not expensive ex-NZ at all. I have a W-class AKL-SFO-BOS for $800 and a C-class AKL-LAX-MUC-LEJ for $4.5k.

AKL-IAH-YYZ can be had for $3.3k in biz. That would be my choice from AKL.

From SYD there is the option to take OZ via ICN as well ... worth considering.

Would fly back from AKL if that is possible
