We travel ATL-FLL, and this travel is on a Saturday in September this year.

Given how far out Sept is, there's still a chance for schedule changes on DL and/or B6's part. There's a chance a schedule change by either could give you more cushion but there's also a chance a schedule change could shrink this "connection" window at FLL. If the schedule change is big enough you could switch your flight to another flight operating that day but if the change is minor (less than 60 minutes), DL, at least, is under no obligation to rebook you without charging a fare difference and you could find your 2 1/4 hour "connection" is now down to 1 and 1/4 hours.
As someone else noted, September is prime hurricane season for this part of the world so that could throw a wrench in your plans.
Is ATL-SJU nonstop just too expensive that you're considering this or is there another reason you're considering this option of doing DL for ATL-FLL and then transferring to B6 for FLL-SJU?
