That sounds very unusual. I've never seen more than 3-4 people head for US connections off a European flight. Maybe if I hung around there would be 10-15 people total on the whole plane. I always wondered if that meant it was susceptible to backing up if there was a sudden burst of connecting passengers arriving since it didn't look like there was much capacity at that point.
