I had the same situation (1.5hr layover). Reading it here it could be nothing to 2 hour passport wait.
I decided to call up Delta (my ticketing carrier) and I moved myself to an earlier flight inbound, now I have 3.25 hour stop in AMS and maybe a peace of mind
