I'll forward this string to Corporate Security and programing for investigation. I know there MUST be a way for this not to happen. Most all of us in EWR cross reference the PNR's because there is obviously a need to do so.
While I've noticed other cities adding notes to cross-reference PNRs for the upgrades, EWR is the most non-compliant city out there. You don't even need to show your elite card or even mention your name --just say "hi, can you give so-and-so a Platinum companion upgrade" and they add the name to the list then.
But anyhow, the "unlimited" upgrades are only as unlimited as there are available seats. If there's other Platinums in-line for upgrades, they will always get them before companions, regardless of how legitimate those companions are.
